iTunes10 logoCool! Now, I use Copytrans (mentioned in the article) and I have had great success with it.

Apple's walled garden is a paradise for many, simplifying the tasks of finding, downloading, and managing music and video for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. But for some people (including me), Apple's walled garden feels more like a penitentiary.

The iTunes software is optimized to sell you content. Using it for anything else, such as adding your own video or a music track, isn't so easy. But I don't like the idea of buying a music track or a video from the iTunes Store, even though I already own it, just because doing so is easier than importing it via iTunes.

That's why I've put together a list of five PC desktop software programs for adding and managing video and music on your iOS device. Whether your interests run to playing your favorite DVDs on your iPad or to dragging and dropping music files onto your iPhone, I've got you covered.

ipad-3aI know, attach a hamster to it running on a little wheel and make a little adapter to plug into the bottom of the phone and that will make it go faster! No, it won't? Well that sucks!

My iPhone (3GS), now nearing its second birthday, has seemed sluggish for a few months. It started around the same time that I installed iOS 5, that latest major update to the mobile operating system. When iOS 5.1 came out a few weeks ago, I wondered whether it would only exacerbate the problem when I installed it. Would the OS update take up even more space on my little phone, making it run even slower?

You don't need to know much at all about how your iPhone or iPad works, or even how much a gigabyte is, to make your Apple mobile device run faster. Follow these few simple steps, and you'll be on your way to a cleaner and quicker iPhone or iPad.

tablets manyI honeslty, had no idea you could do this. I just closed like 30 apps on my iPad and the damn thing is SMOKING fast again! SWEET!

When I press the Home button it doesn't fully close, but resides in memory. I would like to restart an app from scratch and not keep its latest state.

- Double-tap the home button to see the list of running apps. Press and hold on one of the apps and in a moment a little circle with a - in it will appear on every app. Tap the circle to completely close the app.

Christmas 2008 - For the first time in several years I was going to be off from work for two straight weeks and my family had no plans go anywhere. Two weeks just hanging around the house. What was I going to do with myself?

I suppose I could have tackled some long neglected household repair, or I could have just kicked back and overdosed on Christmas movies and bowl games like I usually do this time of year. But instead, after lounging around for a day or so, a light bulb went off over my head. An iPhone application! I was going to try my hand at developing an iPhone application.

iphone4Well I'll be damned...

With the release of the iPhone 4 and iOS4, Apple has added support for multiple Exchange accounts on the devices that support the latest iPhone OS. This may not seem like a significant enhancement, but depending on how a person uses their iPhone, it could be a very welcome feature.

I use my iPhone with my work Exchange account as well as a number of IMAP accounts. At Westminster College, our IT department also uses a common account for many tasks, including software license management and support subscriptions so that employee turnover does not create gaps in service and support coverage.
