Yea, I'm not... of course I do not own an iPhone but that's besides the point. IF I had an iPhone AND I had Siri I would not be talking to it either.

Siri is easily the most touted feature of the 4S, Apple's best-selling iPhone ever. And there's speculation it might be a feature in the next version of the Apple iPad, expected to be unveiled in early March.

So four months after Siri's debut, we wanted to see how consumers are taking to the talking assistant. Is it a must-have addition they couldn't live without, or a novelty that seemed fun at first, but now is barely used?

We reached out to an unscientific sampling of USA TODAY readers to find out, and the verdict is 50-50. Some people absolutely love it, while others say they are no longer on speaking terms with Siri.

iphone4sIn 2010, a lot of people were upset with Apple over the iPhone 4. The reason? The phone's reception seemed to dip way down when you held the iPhone 4 in a certain way. Specifically, when the phone was held in the left hand, covering the black strip at the bottom left corner of the device, the phone's signal dropped drastically.

Apple at first tried to downplay what later became known as "Antennagate". Officially, Apple said simply to not hold the iPhone 4 in that way. Later, Apple CEO Steven Jobs held a special press conference where he announced that everyone would get a bumper case for the phone if you bought it before a certain date. The case was made to improve reception for the device. However, the damage had already been done as a number of class action lawsuits were filed against Apple complaining about the iPhone 4 antenna issue.

News.com reports that as part of the agreement, Apple will pay everyone who bought an iPhone 4 $15 in cash or offer them a free bumper case for the phone.

iphone4Apple on Wednesday said it will start requiring mobile apps to get explicit permission from iPhone and iPad owners before the apps collect and store information about users' personal contacts.

The statement came after a week of revelations that popular social tools like Twitter and Path were doing just that -- sometimes without the user even knowing it.

"Apps that collect or transmit a user's contact data without their prior permission are in violation of our guidelines," Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr said in a written statement to CNN and other media outlets.

"We're working to make this even better for our customers, and as we have done with location services, any app wishing to access contact data will require explicit user approval in a future software release."

iphone4sThe iPhone may be great for consumers, but takes a nasty toll on wireless carriers' bottom line.

The price of Apple's iconic smartphone is heavily discounted by carriers. Those subsidies almost single-handedly devastate profit margins for Verizon, AT&T and Sprint.

Since Apple's iPhone debuted on Verizon's network in February 2011, Verizon's "EBITDA service margin" -- a closely watched metric that carriers use to measure their core profit as a percentage of their sales -- has tumbled.

Between 2009 and 2010, Verizon averaged EBITDA service margin of 46.4% per quarter. In the first quarter that the iPhone went on sale, that fell to 43.7%. Last quarter, when Verizon sold a record 4.2 million iPhones, its margin plunged to 42.2%.
